Changes. Change is good! Although it wasn’t anticipated, after a while I realized I needed to buy my own domain and after researching/feeling what best reflects where I want to take this site-what I want to express-I thought of what’s most important to me.
Thoreau said ‘As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.’
All I can think of right now is how much I value simplicity. Simplicity is actually a complex thing if you think about it as we have all complicated our lives so much that it’s hard to know what really matters, what really needs to be done. I am in a constant battle for where my attention should be. I want it to be on my daughter, my husband, and my writing & photography yet I’m struggle to contain my mind as it wanders.
…which is why in January I announced my word of the year was simplify.
Simplifying as much as possible ( starting with decluttering) has influenced my life so much that I want to make it the focus of the blog. Not on frugality. Not on necessarily buying less ( although I do believe our purchases should matter and help the world). But on valuing what matters most and enjoying life.
I lost my Dad out of the blue when I was 19. It caused me years of trying to find myself and my identity. My husband helped me recover my love for life, and my daughter took that even further. I realize more than ever the importance of my family and valuing my unconventional, artistic nature.
I truly cannot wait to continue this blogging journey with you. I’m so happy you are here!
