Why you should take shilajit

As part of our new holistic lifestyle series on the blog, I’m featuring products, services, and items that not only help you thrive as a Life Coach ( or Health Coach of course) but that are also potentially of benefit to your clients. And today, I’m happy to be reviewing the amazing shilajit from Pure Himalayan Shilajit, a US based company that’s determined to bring you the highest quality shilajit out there.

So…what exactly is shilajit?

It’s an ‘exudate that is pressed out from layers of rock in the high Himalayas’, according the company’s site. It’s commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat a number of ailments that range from regulating hormones to boosting brain health, among many other things. Shilajit is a borderline cure-all, due to the tar-like substance’s health properties which include fulvic acid. According to Dr. Axe, ‘As an active chemical compound, fulvic acid works in a way that helps us absorb and use other nutrients better — such as microbiota/probiotics, antioxidants, fatty acids and minerals.’

Shilajit is also fantastic for increasing libido and is frequently used in blends that are geared to helping you get in the mood, or if you’re a guy, helps you, well….you know. Last longer. Just saying.

Sounds pretty good right?

How my health has improved since take shilajit

After being sent shilajit in both powdered and liquid form from Pure Himalayan Shilajit, I’ve begun drinking it everyday. In fact, it’s become a part of my afternoon regime, right before I begin my long 2 hour walk ( I know, I’m a crazy person for walking that long but it helps me meditate and clear my mind, plus I lost 15lbs from doing so).

Because I’m not a huge fan of the smokey taste of shilajit, I mix it with a powdered ginger that we buy from the supermarket that’s basically an aged then ground form of ginger, and it mixes quickly with water and basically kills the taste. I add the shilajit and aged ginger to a water bottle, shake, and then sip on it for the duration of my walk.

I’ve noticed an increase in energy, that’s for sure. And I can’t say this with 100 percent certainty but I do believe that taking shilajit daily has helped me lose weight, along with my daily walks.

Why Health Coaches should consider recommending it to clients

If you are a Health Coach that helps clients overcome stress or ( lack of) energy issues, consider recommending they try shilajit, with perhaps some adaptogenic herbs like gynostemma. This is the powerhouse combo I personally take, and highly recommend it.

Sex Coaches ( and Marriage Coaches) should also research the benefits of shilajit and have clients try it to see if it can help them, perhaps along with he shou wu, a Chinese herb I also take and highly recommend.

But even if you aren’t a coach, I think supplementing with shilajit is worthwhile, especially if like me, you’re in need of extra energy. Parents can especially benefit from this supplement, trust me!
